Kids New Years Eve Party Ideas!
A fond memory I have as a child is getting to be involved in the New Years festivities. It made me feel so included in the special club. Kids love nothing more than to get to do “Adult” things and New Years is a perfect way to include them. These ideas are great for a mid-day party where you can do a 12pm (noon) balloon drop, or have them join in the fun at the adult party and send them off to bed. Either way, these quick, easy, and inexpensive ideas will have your kiddos helping you in the kitchen, and make some great memories for them to remember for years.
These ideas are super easy. No need to be an Instagram or Pinterest Mom here. We are using simple ingredients and techniques. Ones that the kids can do. That is part of the fun; letting them in on the action! My own kids had a blast making all of these, and there was minimal mess which is always a win.
Marshmallow Glitter Pops
These marshmallow pops are probably my favorite. So cute, and unbelievable easy to execute. My kids were all about making these!
Equipment:
Marshmallows (regular size)
Skewers or toothpicks
Sugar spinkles
Water
Paper towel
Method:
Pour our sprinkles onto a small plate. Place a marshmallow on a skewer. Dip the marshmallow into a bowl of water. Gently pat the water off the the marshmallow. Roll marshmallow into sprinkles. DONE! Told you, so easy! Store these standing up in a piece of Styrofoam. I literally found a block from one of my kids Christmas toy packaging to use. I guarantee, you have some hiding around your house somewhere. If you want to make the foam look more fancy for a party you are more than welcome to cover with wrapping paper. I let me kids go at it with some Sharpies and color their own designs on it!
*For an adult option you can also dip these in Vodka as opposed to water! Just make sure you keep them separate from the kids ones. Don’t need any mishaps there (haha).
Sparkling Jello Shots
I love ideas that literally mimic the adult fun! These kid friendly Jello shots are so cute, easy, and the kids will love them.
Equipment:
Plastic cups
rimmed baking tray
Sparkling grape juice (or any non-alcoholic sparking drink)
2 packets powdered gelatin
whisk
measuring cup
Sparkling cider
Method:
Line plastic cups onto baking tray
Fill a small bowl with 1/3c water. Sprinkle gelatin over water. Do not stir. Allow to sit for 2 minutes to bloom
In a small sauce pan bring 1/2c water to a boil. Once boiling add in the bloomed gelatin and whisk until dissolved.
In large measuring cup add 2 1/2c sparkling juice. Add gelatin mixture to this and gently stir together. Pour into individual cups and store in fridge about 1-2 hours until set.
*Option to add in fruit or gummies to your cups before pouring in gelatin. My kids loved this part of it, especially if it was a gummies. Sprinkles as pictured above are a great addition as well. They love to add sprinkles to everything!
